The flooding following Hurricane Katrina destroyed
everything in our church below 4 ft. We lost our pews, the floor covering and
everything thing else below the 4 foot water line. As a mid- to long-term
solution, we decided to paint our concrete floor and
include a labyrinth to provide a place of contemplation, comfort and
transformation for people in our devastated city and Mid-City
neighborhood.
Our labyrinth is a 36' Medieval type Chartres Cathedral
replica. It was designed by Aimée Dominique and Anne Hollier of
The labyrinth is open to the public
before and after worship services and whenever the parish office is open.
Monday – Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon and by
appointment. Open labyrinth walks are held weekly in Advent and Lent and at
other times.
The labyrinth was dedicated on Saturday, August 26, 2006 in the
context of the
1st Katrina Anniversary.
