Cultos en la Iglesia de la Gracia
The Sunday worship schedule of Grace Church
consists of three
distinct congregations,
which worship at different times and in different ways. The
variety of our worship
reflects the diversity of our congregation. You will be welcome
at any of our
services.
8:00 AM Holy Eucharist (Rite I)
A small
congregation meets in the chapel early on
Sunday morning for a
simple Rite I Eucharist. A Eucharistic minister assists the priest.
There is a
homily but no
music.
10:00 AM Holy Eucharist (Rite II)
The liturgy of the principal
service, held in a
large worship space, is rich in ceremony and music. Chanting, bells and
incense are a regular part of our renewed Anglo-Catholic style of
worship. Assisting the
priest is a deacon, often an assisting priest, Eucharistic ministers,
and a cantor. Others
read from scripture, help
to lead song, and serve as acolytes.
Our minister of music and the choir lead the people in singing.
12:15 PM Holy Eucharist (Rite II) in Spanish
The liturgy for our
Spanish-speaking congregation currently meets in the chapel. A full
liturgy with music, acolytes, lay readers is conducted according to the
rites of El Libro de Oración Común, the Spanish Book of
Common Prayer. Music is accompanied by guitar and keyboard. All are
welcome. Bilingual prayer books are also available for the "Español-challanged."
Childcare is available on Sundays from 9:30
a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. Evensong
Wednesday Evensong is generally sung, a
cappella, and led variously by clergy and lay persons. Sometimes there is a
brief homily or reading pertaining to a feast day. Evensong at Grace Church is a
part of the Anglican Tradition of the Daily Office, in which God's praises are
sung daily, morning and night.
On the first Wednesday of the month, the
service is Evensong and Benediction of the Blessed
Sacrament.
Daily
Office and Eucharist at 7:00 a.m. resumes on Wednesday, September 1st.
We will resume daily Morning Prayer and
Eucharist at 7:00 a.m., Mondays through Saturdays in St. Matthias Chapel. This
service lasts about 25 minutes. Monday through Thursday we meet in St. Matthias
Chapel, on Friday and Saturday we meet in the Chancel.
*******
All are welcome, all are included, the rich and the poor, people of all
colors and backgrounds, the young and the old. We have no dress code. Children have their own
liturgy of the word (or Sunday school), join the rest of us for the
prayers of the people, and receive communion with everyone else. We
encourage all to participate actively in the entire celebration,
singing, offering names and concerns for prayer, giving thanks, and
receiving communion.
On Sundays, after communion, there is time for announcements, and then the priest
gives a blessing and the deacon the dismissal. We go in peace. But
usually with a stop in the parish hall for coffee and often a with
ample food and desserts.
